Musk said Tesla plans to offer both leasing and sales options for Optimus robots.Among them, the rental service will be launched earlier than the salesTesla plans to start selling Optimus next year, according to Musk in April.
Musk has not yet disclosed details about the lessees or how consumers and other companies can participate in the Optimus leasing program.
At Tesla's 2024 shareholder meeting held this week, Musk also mentioned that multiple Optimus robots are already working at the Fremont plant in California, mainly responsible for the sorting and shipment of battery cells. He expects that by next year, Tesla factories will use more than 1,000 Optimus robots.
