MicrosoftThe company said it will not include "Recall"This feature uses artificial intelligence technology to track computer usage, but due to privacy risks, Microsoft decided to preview it in a small range first.
The Recall feature records everything from web browsing to voice chats and stores it on your computer, which you can search when you need to recall something you did months ago.
Microsoft mentioned in a blog post that the Recall feature will first be previewed in the Windows Insider Program (WIP) rather than being widely rolled out to all "Co-Pilot+ PC" users on June 18.
The Redmond, Washington-based company said the decision was made "based on our commitment to providing a trusted, safe, and powerful experience for all our customers and seeking additional feedback before making this feature available to all CoPilot+ PC users."
Co-Pilot+ PC is a series of personal computers with artificial intelligence capabilities launched in May this year.
WIP is a public software testing project that allows millions of "true Windows fans" to preview upcoming operating system features.
Microsoft said it plans to roll out the Recall preview to all CoPilot+ PCs after receiving feedback from the WIP community.
Soon after the Recall feature was announced, it sparked a discussion about privacy concerns, with some social media users worrying that the feature could lead to surveillance, while billionaire technologist Elon Musk likened it to an episode of "Black Mirror," comparing it to the Netflix series that explores the negative effects of advanced technology.
