What is GPT 4o?

GPT-4 Turbo compared to GPT-4o
GPT-4o has the same level of intelligence as GPT-4, but is faster, cheaper, and more rate-limited than GPT-4 Turbo. The differences are as follows:
- Price: GPT-4o is cheaper than GPT-4 Turbo 50% at $5/million tokens for input tokens and $15/million tokens for output tokens).
- Rate Limit: GPT-4o has a 5x higher rate limit than GPT-4 Turbo, up to 10 million tokens per minute.
- Speed: The GPT-4o is twice as fast as the GPT-4 Turbo.
- VISUAL: The GPT-4o outperformed the GPT-4 Turbo on assessments related to visual ability.
- Multi-language: GPT-4o better supports non-English languages than GPT-4 Turbo.
GPT-4o currently has a context window of 128k and a knowledge deadline of October 2023.
Accessing GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, and GPT-4o in OpenAI APIs
GPT-4o is available to anyone with an OpenAI API account, and you can use the model in the Chat Completions API, Assistants API and Batch API.
GPT-4o also supports function calls and JSON mode. You can also use it via Playground (https://platform.openai.com/playground).
Successful payment of $5 or more gives you access to GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, and GPT-4o models through the OpenAI API.

Accessing GPT-4o with ChatGPT
Free ChatGPT users will use GPT-4o by default, but there is a limit to the number of messages that can be sent using GPT-4o, which varies based on current usage and demand. When unavailable, free users will automatically switch back to GPT-3.5.

Currently, Plus users can send up to 80 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4o and 40 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4.
However, limits may be reduced during peak hours to ensure that GPT-4 and GPT-4o are available to more users.
ChatGPT Team users have a higher maximum number of GPT-4 and GPT-4o usage than ChatGPT Plus.
However, unused counts do not accumulate (e.g., if you wait 6 hours, you will not have 80 messages available on GPT-4 for the next 3 hours).
ChatGPT Enterprises
ChatGPT Enterprise Edition is designed to meet the needs of large organizations with unlimited high-speed access to GPT-4o and GPT-4.
New conversations for ChatGPT Enterprise accounts will default to GPT-4o. ChatGPT Enterprise users can select another model from the drop-down menu at the top of the page:
