The survey results show that 65% of respondents regularly use generative AI, which is a significant increase from 2023 and is already starting to generate substantial business value, including cost reduction and efficiency, business revenue growth, and more.
In terms of region of adoption, Greater China and Asia-Pacific emerged as the fastest growing regions for generative AI. The frequent use of the native digital population is the main reason for the growth in this region. At the same time, the survey also found that enterprises use generative AI in three main ways: using off-the-shelf generative AI products, fine-tuning models with their own data in collaboration with generative AI vendors, and developing a product entirely on their own. Different application methods have different requirements for data quality and deployment time.
McKinsey survey shows that the application scenarios of generative AI are mainly tied to its functions, including the ability to generate text, code, audio, video, images and so on. And with the emergence of more multimodal large models, the application scenarios will be further expanded.
