Two weeks ago,OpenAI Announced to give free version ChatGPT A major upgrade will allow all users to use some features that were originally only available to ChatGPT Plus users for free.
OpenAI said it would release an upgraded version to users in the coming weeks, and now the wait is finally here.
On Wednesday, OpenAI posted on social media X that all free ChatGPT users can now use all the new features announced in the spring update event, including networking, visual functions, data analysis, file uploading, and custom GPT.
The networking feature allows ChatGPT to find answers from the web, which means you can ask questions about the latest news and hope that the answer given by ChatGPT is up to date, and even check the accuracy of the answer using the provided link.
If the question you ask requires searching online, ChatGPT's online function will automatically start. For example, I used the free version of ChatGPT to ask a question, "What's the weather like in Beijing today?" As shown in the figure below, ChatGPT searched the Internet for the answer.
The visual function allows you to send pictures to the chatbot, and then it will give you a more professional analysis.
For example, in an example shared by OpenAI, you can take a picture of a menu in a different language, and then GPT-4o can help you translate it, explain the stories and cultural meanings behind these foods, and recommend them for you to try.
Free users can now use ChatGPT’s data analysis features to help analyze data, create interactive charts, and perform data visualization, features that were previously only available to ChatGPT Plus users.
With the file upload function, you can upload various files, such as spreadsheets, documents, papers, PDFs, etc., and then let ChatGPT help you analyze, interpret, convert and extract information from the files.
Finally, free users can now access GPT through the GPT Store, which means you can use chatbots that are customized for specific purposes or tasks. For example, AllTrails GPT can help you recommend routes for your next outdoor activity, while Canva GPT can help you design projects.
