ElonMuskElon Musk's artificial intelligence startup xA The company announced in a blog post today that it has raised $1.FinancingIt has raised US$6 billion (currently approximately RMB 43.56 billion) from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital.
xAI said the funds will be used to bring xAI's first products to market, build advanced infrastructure and accelerate the development of future technologies. "More news will be announced in the coming weeks, xAI's pre-money valuation is $18 billion," Musk said in a post on X in response to the financing announcement.
xAI was founded in July 2023 and launched its first product, the Grok chatbot, in November last year. Recently, xAI demonstrated the Grok-1.5 Vision multimodal model, which can process images, documents, and table content in addition to text.
The new round of financing will help xAI obtain more AI computing resources to compete with openAI and Anthropic rivals: Musk recently said that xAI's next-generation Grok model is being trained on 20,000 NVIDIA H100s, and the future Grok 3 will increase its demand for AI GPUs to 100,000.
In order to make Grok "smarter", Musk plans to connect these dedicated GPUs in series into a giant supercomputer and call it a "computing super factory". Musk told investors that these chipsets connected by Nvidia H100 will be at least four times the size of the largest GPU cluster currently available after they are built.
Musk said he hopes to have the supercomputer operational by the fall of 2025 and will personally be responsible for its delivery on time.
