The documents show that the voice actor for "Sky" was actually another actor, and the actor was hired several months before OpenAI invited Scarlett to voice ChatGPT. Several people involved in the creation of the "Sky" dubbing also confirmed that OpenAI did not require a voice close to Scarlett when looking for a voice actor.
The document shows that OpenAI's description of the voice actor in the recruitment notice includes: non-union members, aged between 25 and 45, and a voice that is "warm, infectious and charming." The agent of the actress who voiced Sky also confirmed to The Washington Post that OpenAI never mentioned Scarlett or the movie "Her" throughout the process.
Legal experts believe that although OpenAI denies deliberate imitation, the voice of "Sky" is indeed very similar to Scarlett's voice. More importantly, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman contacted Scarlett a few days before the voice was released, hoping that she would become one of the voice actors for ChatGPT. Altman also referred to the voice as "Her" in public, which reminds people of the movie "Her" in which Scarlett voiced the artificial intelligence character.
As of press time, Scarlett has not taken any legal action against OpenAI.
