Microsoft releases AI tool Recall to help you find those lost files

The Recall AI feature allows users to query files, websites or emails using their voice. For example, you can ask it if it can find the meeting schedule email you received from your boss last week, or if it can open a note you took, without having to use your computer's search option.

Recall AI records your screen and uses AI to index it for search. Instead of searching for the exact file name, you can describe your memory of a file in natural language, such as "a PDF file discussing employee onboarding," just like you would with a colleague. It can also quickly find the document'sup to dateversion, making it easier for you to get the information you need.

The feature captures your actions on the computer, but Microsoft guarantees that the data will be kept locally on the device and you don't have to worry about your information being transmitted to the cloud server. The company also said that it will not use any captured information to train AI models. Users can also view, edit, and delete all captured content and browse through the timeline to find the information they need.

Currently, Recall AI is only available on the Cube+ PC series, as it needs to run on the device. It only works on PCs with ARM64 processors, Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus, 225GB or more storage, and 16GB or more RAM.
